I am American writer living in Norwich, UK, a UNESCO City of Literature. Having grown up in Michigan, I travelled to the UK to study English at the University of Cambridge, followed by a Master of Research degree in the Humanities and Cultural Studies at the London Consortium. My research explored Mindfulness in the novels of Jane Austen via her elegant term “composure” and referencing modern research from clinical psychology.
My non-fiction is published in The Stage, American Theatre, Exeunt Magazine and Arcs and Beats blog, and my short fiction in US literary journal MoonPark Review. I was the Blogger in Residence at the Cambridge Junction for their 2014-15 season and awarded grants from Arts Council England in 2014 and 2023 for artistic development in creative writing.
In 2023 I was an Associate Artist with the National Centre for Writing.
Alongside my writing, I teach Creative Writing and English as a Second Language (ESL). I have a CELTA qualification and experience working with schools and charitable organisations, teaching students of all ages and abilities.
I have extensive experience working in the arts as a funding consultant and grant-writer, project manager and workshop facilitator for both individual artists and larger organisations, including Norwich Puppet Theatre, Curious Spark, the Fitzwilliam Museum and National Centre for Writing.
I live with my partner, who is also a writer, and I love reading, dogs, yoga, going to the beach, discos — and more than anything else, I love love! I believe it’s the key to all healing, happiness and joy, and it’s my goal in life to help people find more love, particularly for themselves and their creativity.
