Alongside my writing, I teach Creative Writing and English as a Second Language (ESL). I have a CELTA qualification and experience working with schools and charitable organisations, teaching students of all ages and abilities. I hold a BA (Hons) in English from the University of Cambridge and a MRes in Humanities and Cultural Studies from The London Consortium.
My goal as a teacher is to help people find and tell their own stories, using creative writing as a tool for self-exploration, expression and healing. I use creative writing exercises designed to tap into students’ innate creativity and open their voices. My workshops give participants the opportunity to experiment with different creative writing genres such as poetry, short fiction and creative memoir.
As an ESOL/EFL teacher, I have worked in full-time roles at Accademia Britannica, Arezzo, Italy and Norwich Study Centre (Flying Classrooms). I have over 800 contact teaching hours with people of all ages and backgrounds. I have been a guest teacher of Creative Writing for Cambridge Community Arts.
